Airgungurus awards
Once a year we ask our social media account members to nominate people they think deserve a little bit of recognition for the work they do to promote airgunning. The people who nominate others are airgunners who personally know the work done behind the scenes and we keep the people who nominate others secret.
Not everyone can win an award and last year only one award was given out. This year has been slightly different as there was more than one deserving winner.
You can watch our awards live stream replay here but we will put the awards on this blog anyway. Well done to all the winners
Peter Muir
Northern monkeys HFT course setter and club volunteer. Pete and the NMHFT team put out superb courses in very little time and organise a superb charity shoot every year which is very well attended and always a great day out. He LOVES giving out monkey badges to people who knock down the special NMHFT targets. It makes him really happy. Just ask him. Well done Pete your award is very well deserved.
William Hamilton
Wullie to people who know him. Superb yet evil HFT course setter. Spends many days voluntarily setting courses at his club and making sure they are fair to left and right handed shooters as much as he can. Course setting is an art and Wullie nails it every time. He is always ready to lend a hand and also helps run his clubs social media accounts. We all need people like Wullie in a club. A true backbone for his club and very well-liked and respected.
LIam Hamilton
Liam spends half his time fixing club roofs and shinning up flagpoles to fix flags. He is often seen with a paint can and making sure his range is looked after. He still just about manages to spend time practicing his skills so much so that he was in the Scottish world champions HFT team. He has a superb attitude and his award is very well deserved.
Richard Dey & Tony Hodgkinson
Unusually for us these two fantastic people are not members of airgungurus but that doesn’t matter in the least. They were nominated by airgungurus members and although their awards are individual they are for exactly the same thing. In truth we had to do a lot of research this time round and my goodness they don’t half deserve an award. They work at R8 shooting range near Chesterfield UK and were nominated for their outstanding work in bringing new shooters into the sport and being incredibly welcoming and helpful. We contacted some R8 members who are also part of airgungurus and checked reviews and the more we looked the more impressed we were. They have made an outstanding contribution to airgunning.
Beck Beckley & Andy Beckley
The owner of Atherton indoor range had a record 23 nominations for an AGG award. There was a bit of a campaign for Becky and it shows how much she is loved and appreciated by shooters and we are very proud to add Becky to our AGG award winners. Becky along with her late partner Andy turned an old draughty building into the finest indoor range with a work ethic second to none and more importantly made a place for shooters that has turned into a family. We did a secret review of the range years ago and we were given such a warm welcome that it got our first ever five star review and it has improved even more since then. We liked it so much that we dropped in again on the way back from the world HFT championships and had a great time. Okay we spent more time drinking tea and chatting than we did shooting but we had a blast. Becky is moving on to new things in 2024 and if she is 10 percent as good as she was running AIR she will smash it. Amended to add Andy to our award by permission of Becky
